How Profound RF Microneedling Treatment Works

The Profound RF treatment combines radio frequency (RF) with microneedling using a handheld RF microneedling device to penetrate deep into the subcutaneous layer of skin. Profound’s gentle heating process along with the application of microneedles deliver RF energy that effectively accelerates the body’s production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid to tighten the skin, while also disrupting cellulite fibers to smooth the skin.

Preparing for Profound RF Microneedling Treatment

Prior to your Profound treatment it’s important to hydrate and avoid consuming alcohol for roughly one week before your scheduled appointment. Refrain from using blood thinning medications such as Advil or Ibuprofen, and discontinue the use of topical retinoids for at least 3 days prior to your treatment. Finally, you’ll want to avoid direct sun exposure and as always, use SPF of 35 or higher.

Profound RF Microneedling Results

While individual results can vary, Profound RF microneedling results are typically apparent several days following treatment as soon as redness and swelling has subsided, and will continue to steadily improve for up to six months. It takes time for the intricate fibers in collagen to increase. Patients who undergo Profound RF microneedling treatment will see smoother and tighter skin after just one hour-long treatment.

How long does Profound treatment take?

Each treatment takes approximately one hour.

Does Profound hurt?

No, the procedure itself does not hurt. Prior to beginning treatment, your provider will apply a local anesthetic to ensure your maximum comfort throughout the procedure. The numbing injections themselves do have a burning sensation.

How many Profound treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required is up to you and depends on your unique cosmetic goals, however, most patients find dramatic results after just one treatment.

Are Profound results permanent?

While Profound results are long-term, the treated areas are still subject to the natural aging process and weight fluctuations. Clinical studies have shown that a single Profound session is an effective and safe way to reduce cellulite.⁶
