Yesterday, October 11th, was World Sight Day, the annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired.
The VEC staff decorated the hospital in World Sight Day colors and held an office-wide fundraiser for the Optometry Giving Sight Campaign—a global movement to eliminate avoidable blindness. Every staff member who donated enjoyed “dressing down,” wearing jeans and a VEC t-shirt to work yesterday. Additionally, VEC donated a portion of all Thursday profits to the campaign.
The mission of the Optometry Giving Sight Campaign is to improve the quality of life of people who are needlessly blind or vision impaired simply because they do not have access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses.
