Virginia Eye Consultants is honored to receive a 2012 “Roaring 20” award from Inside Business.
“The Roaring 20 Award not only highlights the region’s fastest-growing companies, but also shares stories of determination, perseverance and fortitude,” Inside Business writes. The Roaring 20 award dinner was held at the Westin Town Center November 1st.
For a company to be eligible for the Roaring 20 award, they needed to be headquartered in the Hampton Roads area and established prior to FY 2009, realized gross revenues of at least $2 million in 2011 and experienced three years of growth.
There have been major changes at Virginia Eye Consultants in the past four years. In time, it’s built a $9 million, state-of-the-art medical facility that includes a clinic, ambulatory surgery center, research department and a small foundation.
The culture of the office focuses on “world-class service, world class technology and world-class patient care.”
Guided by the Ritz Carlton Leadership Center, the staff runs the practice similar to Ritz Carlton hotels, with a strong culture of customer service.
Today the practice has nine physicians, each with his or her own subspecialty.
“We mirror an academic center and can take care of all specialty surgical eye care needs under one roof,” CEO Karen Spencer said.
Virginia Eye Consultants works with a network of 140 optometrists in the area. It specializes in vision surgery and refers patients back to their optometrists for continuing care and follow-ups.
VEC is the first practice in Virginia and the 13th in the nation to offer the latest advancement in cataract surgery, laser treatment of cataracts.
This laser is an advanced, precision-based technology that operates with unmatched accuracy and computer control, offering the most technologically advanced procedure for cataract patients.
In 2011 Virginia Eye Consultants was named the City of Norfolk’s Small Business of the Year by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. It was then named the southeastern region’s winner of America’s Small Business of the Year by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The practice looks forward to expanding, hiring new physicians and offering services in different locations.
