Get to Know Dr. Tisdelle

Sierra Tisdelle, O.D., is an optometrist at Virginia Eye Consultants, serving patients in Norfolk, VA. She specializes in glaucoma, retinal disease, neurologic eye disease, and ocular manifestations of systemic disease.

Dr. Tisdelle attended the Indiana University School of Optometry, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, an assistant instructor, and a peer tutor and mentor for underclassmen. During her academic career, Dr. Tisdelle completed clinical internships in ocular disease, primary care, low vision, pediatrics, specialty contact lenses, and dry eye care.

Dr. Tisdelle completed a 12-month post-doctoral residency at the WJB Dorn Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Columbia, SC. This program is focused on primary eye care and ocular disease. Dr. Tisdelle was trained in advanced ocular disease care in diabetes, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and emergent eye care. Additionally, Dr. Tisdelle received special training in low vision rehabilitation, therapeutic scleral lens fittings, and post-operative co-management services.

Dr. Tisdelle is a native Virginian from the Blue Ridge Mountains and grew up enjoying the outdoors, hiking, horseback riding, and playing volleyball. She even has an “adventure bag” packed in the care with hiking boots, water shoes, and a hammock in preparation for new adventures at all times! She moved to the Tidewater area to be with her fiancé who is an active duty member of the US Navy. Together they have a dog who loves to play frisbee and cuddle on the couch after a long day.
