Meet Dr. Faulkner

Kelly Faulkner, O.D., is an Alabama native and current resident optometrist at Virginia Eye Consultants in Norfolk, VA. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. Prior to optometry school, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences at Auburn University.

Dr. Faulkner’s clinical experience and interests include specialty contact lenses, binocular vision disorders, ocular disease, surgical co-management, and neuro examinations. During her fourth year optometry externships, she was able to gain experience in a variety of practice modalities including private practice, academia, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and an OD/MD co-management center. Her optometry education and clinical experiences exposed her to a wide variety of anterior and posterior segment disorders of the eye, as well as the optometrists’ role in collaborative care with ophthalmologists and other medical providers. She cultivated a passion for ocular disease and co-management which led to her interest in residency at Virginia Eye Consultants.

During her time in optometry school, Dr. Faulkner served as President of Beta Sigma Kappa, Student Government Association Treasurer, and as a tutor for both didactic courses and clinical skills. She was also a member of the American Optometric Association and American Academy of Optometry, through which she earned her student fellowship.

When she is not at work, you will find her enjoying the beach, reading a good book, or spending quality time with family and friends.
