Virginia Eye Consultants’ CEO, Karen Spencer, was recently asked by the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) to join the editorial advisory board for its magazine Administrative Eyecare, which has won multiple awards. Each of the magazine’s six yearly issues is filled with a wealth of information about general practice management and ophthalmology news to keep professionals up-to-date with the latest advancements in the industry.
Spencer was selected for her board position based on nominations from peers as well as a review of her credentials by the current board. She will be pulling from her years of corporate administrative experience to fulfill duties related to the journal’s editorial needs. During her two-year term, Spencer’s responsibilities will include making sure the ophthalmology journal is updated with newsworthy content and relevant articles with information related to the science, administration, leadership, innovation, and research of the eye care community.
When asked what she enjoys most about the field of ophthalmology, Spencer explains, “I love the dynamic nature and the complexity of the industry. We impact people’s lives on a daily basis. We save and restore sight…one of our most precious senses.“ She looks forward to blending her background of leadership and management to further enhance the magazine’s value.
