Getting to Know Jill
Jill Newton is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant and a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant who joined Virginia Eye Consultants in October, 2015. Her primary role involves providing preoperative physical exams for patients prior to their retinal, cataract, glaucoma, corneal and eyelid surgeries. Jill also performs allergy testing as related to eye diagnoses.
Jill graduated with honors from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. and went on to study Clinical Laboratory Science at Duke University. She worked in the Blood Transfusion Service and reference lab for 7 years at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston before settling in Norfolk, Virginia where she has raised a family and been active in her community. Jill later graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School Physician Assistant Program and gained experience in several fields of medicine.
In her free time Jill enjoys spending time with her husband and children. Jill’s hobbies include creating recipes in the kitchen, reading, painting, classical music, kayaking and boating, and actively participating in the Garden Club of Norfolk. Jill has great memories of working in 3 medically related mission trips through her church to Nicaragua and Kenya. Outside of work, Jill is actively involved with The Hope House Foundation and likes spending time with individuals with “special needs!”
