Jill Newton is a certified Physician Assistant, who joined Virginia Eye Consultants in October 2015. Her primary role involves providing pre-operative physical exams for patients prior to their eye surgeries, such as LASIK and cataract surgery.
Jill earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with honors from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. She then attended Duke University where she studied Clinical Laboratory Science and received her M.T. (ASCP) certification. She worked in the Blood Transfusion Service for 7 years at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston before settling in Norfolk, Virginia to raise a family, become active in the community, and eventually continue her hospital laboratory work at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in the blood transfusion lab. Jill later graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School Master’s of Physician Assistant Program and gained experience in several fields of medicine.
In her free time, Jill enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 (almost grown) children! She likes cooking, kayaking, listening to classical music, participating in Garden Club of Norfolk, volunteering in her church (where she assisted during 3 mission trips to Kenya and Nicaragua), and serving on the Health and Wellness Committee of Hope House Foundation. Jill also has a special interest in spending time with individuals who have disabilities.
