Getting to Know Dr. Chen

Dr. Haoxing Chen is a fellowship-trained glaucoma and cataract surgery specialist at Virginia Eye Consultants. Dr. Chen graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland College Park. During his undergraduate years, he served as a research intern at the National Eye Institute and was engaged in ocular genetics research. He then received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Chen completed his Ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and went on to complete a glaucoma fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit.

Dr. Chen and his wonderful wife enjoy spending time together cooking, hiking and exploring the food scene that the Hampton Roads has to offer.
