
Dr. Joly attended John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio graduating with magna cum laude honors in a self-designed major. He attended medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he obtained a dual M.D. degree and a Ph.D. degree in the neurophysiology of the visual system.
Dr. Joly’s internship at Akron General Medical Center included concentrations in plastic surgery and rheumatology. He completed his ophthalmology training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
Dr. Joly pursued subspecialty fellowship training in ophthalmic plastic surgery and orbital disease at the world-famous orbital surgery center in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His areas of subspecialty training include laser blepharoplasty, endonasal lacrimal surgery, facial reconstruction, Graves’ disease, and orbital tumors.
Dr. Joly then returned to Cleveland as assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology of Case Western Reserve University, where he assisted in training ophthalmology residents. Additionally he served as the medical director of the Lions Eye Clinic at St. Vincent Charity Hospital.
As a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, Dr. Joly has been helping people look and feel their best throughout his surgical career. He sees adults as well as pediatric patients.
Dr. Joly is joined by his wife Lee and their four children Amelia, Celeste, Grayson and Nathaniel. The Joly family is eager to settle into their Larchmont, Norfolk home and they are looking forward to enjoying life in the Hampton Roads area.
